The Good Refill
Issue No. 01October 2026
about a 6-minute read

Hope is renewable.

Wildcats are raising kittens. Tiny shorebirds are breaking records. Sun and wind just ran most of a continent’s biggest grid. Let’s refill the optimism.

A little good, together.

Thank you for reading — and for making room for a little good news.

When environmental news feels too heavy, it is easy to believe that nothing we do matters. This newsletter exists to show the opposite.

This month, the wins came from everywhere: scientists, volunteers, local communities, engineers, city leaders — and people who kept showing up long after the headlines moved on. None of these stories says the work is finished. They say progress is possible when we keep going together.

I started blumix with a simple belief: sustainability should not feel like a sacrifice, and it should never be a luxury. Living in harmony with the planet can be practical, joyful and part of ordinary life. So once a month, we will refill your inbox with proof that better is already happening.

Here’s to noticing the good — and making a little more of it.

Four wins worth carrying with you

Every story names who did the work, links to its source and is honest about what still needs to be done.

The Highlands have kittens again

Saving Wildcats has now released 50 critically endangered wildcats into Cairngorms National Park since 2023. Even better: wild-born kittens have been recorded for three years in a row — a sign the reintroduced population is beginning to establish itself.

The honest footnote: Scottish wildcats are still critically endangered; fires, roads and habitat pressure remain serious risks.
